A spontaneous gathering of boaters often get together and anchor off the shore at Chisholm Park on major holidays during the Summer. The lake bottom is sandy and the depth is about 4 feet, making this a ideal area to wade, float and picnic.
The number of boats varies throughout the weekend. But you are virtually guaranteed to find from several to several dozen boaters anchored here. The short distance from shore and the park's boat dock and launch ramp allows for easy access to the park's facilities. The wide anchorage allows easy entry and exit for water sports. Jet skiers gather here too.
Tip: If the anchorage is crowded, walk your boat into position. Use extreme caution. There will be people wading and floating near you. Use a second anchor from your stern to prevent your boat from swinging.
